法國有一個婦人射殺丈夫，被判監十年，是否罪有應得？
超過40萬人簽署請願信，要求總統動用特赦權（prerogative of mercy），因為她已經遭丈夫毆打和強暴長達47年，三名女兒也曾被丈夫強姦，兒子也因不堪虐待而自殺身亡。
Mercy即是中文的「慈悲、憐憫、寬容」。例如「安樂死」的英文稱為mercy killing，憐憫患有不治之症、飽受肉體痛苦的人，可以無痛地死去。
名詞mercy常配甚麼動詞和介詞？
「對某人表示憐憫」，可以說to show mercy to/towards someone。
例句：
The terrorists showed no mercy to their hostages.
恐怖分子對人質毫不留情。
「寬待某人」可以說to have mercy on someone。
例句：
The public appealed to the judge to have mercy on the poor woman.
公眾請求法官寬恕那可憐的婦人。
